Application timeline for 2008/9

Deadline for receipt of applications and accompanying documents:                    

  • Up to 28 March 2008

(candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible)

First round of interviews:

  • London 12-15 May 2008

Second round of interviews:                                                                                            

  • London 9-13 June 2008

Familiarisation course for successful GTP candidates:                                            

  • London 7-11 July 2008

To be considered for the scheme, you must be available for the first and second round of interviews, and the familiarisation course. Non or partial attendance may jeopardise the success of your application.

Process for submitting your application and accompanying documents

Application forms should be downloaded and completed electronically. They should then be e-mailed to the relevant organisation (see below) together with the required attachments. Applications completed by hand will also be considered. Please make sure that you regularly check your e-mail as information will be sent to you electronically. Please particularly ensure that you regularly review your junk e-mail and remove any junk mail filters for messages received from us.

Accompanying documents required with your application

The following documents are required with your completed GTP application form. Please note that except where indicated, these documents can be sent by e-mail:

a) 2 references in support of your application (see below) – You are required to send the originals by post bearing the institution stamp and signature of your referee.

b) A letter of application in English stating the reasons you  wish to teach in England  – e-mailed with your application form

c) A detailed CV in English  – e-mailed with your application form

d) A photocopy of all relevant diplomas/certificates proving that you are exempt from the maths test – these can be sent in the post or scanned and e-mailed. Originals of all higher education and school-leaving certificates must be presented at first interview with proof of qualification and grade in maths and English.

e) Please note that your application cannot be considered unless it is received together with ALL the above documents by 28 March 2008.

References

Your references could be from someone you have worked closely with in an academic context (eg university teachers/tutors) and/or a professional context (particularly in a field relevant to work with young people). Applicants who are or have been Foreign Language Assistants in the UK are advised to discuss their application with the UK school. If appropriate, they should ask the head of languages/a senior colleague in the department to supply one of the two required references. These references can be provided in French, Spanish, German or English. Your referee may wish to use to the reference forms provided below

All references must be signed and bear the official stamp of the institution, and be forwarded directly to the relevant organisation below. Your references may be sent separately from your application, but you must ensure that your application and all accompanying documents are received by 28 March 2008.
