The Global Xchange programme run in partnership with VSO came to an end on 31 March 2012 on completion of its current funding cycle.
Global Xchange volunteers changed many lives, more than 1500 young volunteers from 37 countries gained a deeper understanding of other cultures and their contributions in 2000 community organisations made an impact across the globe.
The success of the partnership between the British Council and VSO, has gone on to inform the UK government’s International Citizen Service volunteering programme which VSO will lead from 1 April 2012. The British Council, through its Society programmes, will continue to offer opportunities for young people to build their intercultural skills, engage in their communities and network with their peers in UK and other countries.
The British Council and VSO remain committed to working with young people to develop their skills and understanding of the world.
