Recruiting now – partnerships open to UK secondary schools
We're currently recruiting for partnerships between secondary schools in the UK and secondary schools in Saudi Arabia. Grants of up to £1,500 per school per year are available to support project work. If you apply for the partnerships, we will put you in touch with schools in Saudi Arabia and help you get started on a collaborative project.
The deadline for applications is Friday 24 February 2012. The teacher leading the partnership would need to attend a contact seminar in mid to late March 2012, to meet your partner teacher and begin planning your project.
The partnerships are open to clusters of three UK secondary schools working together. For help and advice on forming a cluster, please contact us.
The partnerships will be with Saudi boys' schools. Please note that, due to schooling being single sex in Saudi Arabia, UK schools would be required to send a male teacher to the contact seminar and communications with the Saudi partners would also need to be led by male staff. Students of both sexes can participate in project activities but female students will not be able to engage directly with Saudi male students. The British Council will provide full support and guidance on managing these cultural sensitivities to successful schools.

Recruitment process for other countries
We invite applications from UK schools twice per year and open each application round two to three months in advance of the deadline. At this point we add application forms and guidance to this site and advertise the opportunity through the British Council Schools Online website and other channels. If you are not in the UK and would like your school or district to participate in Connecting Classrooms, please contact us to find out more.
