Undergraduate - Full courses

A group of students walking in a parkStudying full time abroad for your degree is increasingly a viable alternative to UK university for British students. And it’s easy to see why: the combination of studying for a globally recognised degree, exploring a new country, learning or improving your grasp of a new language - it can be a life-changing experience and will look great on your CV.

First things first. To study for an undergraduate degree outside the UK, you’ll need to decide which course you want to apply for and which country or region you’d like to study. From South East Asia, to South America, the choice is yours.

When choosing a course and a country, you’ll need to decide if it suits your needs; make sure you find out about the local language and culture as well as university life and facilities for students. Although countries may offer similar courses to universities in the UK, structure and teaching methods may differ, so it’s a good idea to research a destination as much as possible.

Anyone with the right academic requirements can apply to an international university. To enrol on an undergraduate degree where the teaching will be in the local language, you’ll need to show proficiency in that language. Find out more in the Entry Requirements section.

Course fees vary from place to place - you may find that fees are much the same as in the UK, cheaper or more expensive. In some European countries you may even be eligible to study for free. Eurydice has produced a helpful document that gives a breakdown of tuition fees across Europe. You’ll have to fund living costs privately, maybe with financial help from your family or savings. In some countries living costs may be lower than in the UK.
