Course credits
When you start planning your study abroad, one of the first things to check is that your current qualifications will be accepted by your destination country. And of course, it's just as important to make sure that your time abroad will be recognised by employers and UK institutions.
Credit systems work differently across countries and across institutions so it’s a good idea to research thoroughly before you make your applications.
While most universities across the world will recognise your home and overseas qualifications, you may find that some professional bodies and governments do not. So if you are considering a technical placement it's worth doing a bit more research and contacting companies before you apply for the placement.
Another important thing to bear in mind is that state regulation of the quality of study will vary from country to country. So you'll want to check that the institution and programme of study is appropriately accredited in the country of study.
Erasmus
The Erasmus scheme is all about encouraging student mobility for work and study - so it's not just for people who are studying languages. More than 30 countries (and nine out of every ten European higher education establishments) take part in the Erasmus scheme.
If you take part in an Erasmus scheme, your time abroad will count towards your university degree. This is true whether you study or work abroad.
So talk to your home university to find out about studying or working abroad!
Other things to remember
