Simon McGrath is Professor of International Education and Development at University of Nottingham. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Educational Development, a research associate of the Human Sciences Research Council of South Africa, and Chair of the Skills Working Group of the UNESCO UK National Committee. Over the past 20 years he has had a strong involvement with education in Africa, and from 2002-04 was Director of Human Research Development Research at the HSRC and a member of the South African HRD Coordinating Committee. As a consultant, he has worked for a range of agencies on HRD matters in Africa, including the ILO, World Bank, Danida, UNESCO, EC and GTZ. From 1996 to 2008 he served on the Secretariat of the Working Group for International Cooperation in Skills Development, the donor forum for coordinating their skills activities globally.
