Professor Joy Carter is Vice Chancellor of University of Winchester, a position she has held since April 2006. National roles include her work as Chair of the Universities Vocational Awards Council (UVAC) and Chair of the Higher Education advisory Group for the Prime Minister’s Initiative on Internationalisation. Professor Carter is President of the International Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health, and a member of the European Board. Her research interests include pesticides, particularly environmental storage, transport and health effects.
She began her career at University of Reading, where she worked in the field of Geochemistry and Health. In 1999 she moved to University of Derby as Dean of Science. In 2002, she was appointed to the post of Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) at University of Glamorgan.
