Professor Sir Drummond Bone is Chair of the Observatory on Borderless Education and i-Graduate. A former Professor of English, Sir Drummond Bone was Principal of Royal Holloway, University of London from 2000 to 2002, and Vice-Chancellor of University of Liverpool from 2002 to 2008. He was President of Universities UK from 2005 to 2007 and has sat on the CBI’s Science and Innovation Committee. While Vice-Chancellor at Liverpool he set up a new University in Suzhou, China, jointly run by Liverpool and Xian Jiatong University. He is founding chair of the Liverpool-Shanghai partnership.
Professor Bone was Chair of Liverpool Culture Company during the run-up to the city’s year as European Capital of Culture and was Vice-Chair of the Northern Way (an initiative to regenerate the three regions in the North of England) and of its innovation and industry strategy group. He has recently completed a report for the UK Government on the internationalisation of UK higher education.
