Alex Bols is Head of Education and Quality at the National Union of Students, a post he has held since November 2007.
He is currently a member of the UK team of Bologna Experts and sits on the Higher Education Academy’s Research and Evaluation Advisory Board as well as their Advisory Panel for National Teaching Fellowship Scheme Projects. He is also a member of the Higher Education Funding Council for England’s Teaching Funding Advisory Group, Teaching Quality Information/National Student Survey Steering Group and their Performance Indicators Steering Group, as well as being a member of Action on Access’ Advisory Group and being part of the secretariat of the cross-sector group on student engagement.
Previously he was Senior Campaigns, Conferences and Events Officer at Universities UK and prior to this he was based in Brussels as Secretary-General of the National Unions of Students in Europe between 2001 and 2004. He was on the National Executive Committee of the National Union of Students from 1999 to 2001 and President and Vice-President of the students’ union at University of Southampton from 1997 to 1999. Alex Bols has also been on the Executive Committee of the National Postgraduate Committee and Chaired the Aldwych Group.
