Paul Roberts
Principal Lecturer, University of Hertfordshire

Paul Roberts has been working for the last five years on internationalising the curriculum at the University of Hertfordshire. This project forms part of the University’s overall internationalisation strategy. His interest and involvement in the project originated in his observations of students who did not seem to be able to benefit from the international atmosphere at the University and of staff who often seemed uncertain about how to help students in this endeavour.

Like several of his counterparts in other universities, Paul Roberts came to the internationalisation scene from a background in English Language Teaching and his other main activity at Hertfordshire is leading the ELT Group. Before coming to the University, he worked as an English Language teacher and teacher trainer in eight different countries, published a handful of ELT books and contributed to the Cambridge International Dictionary. His doctoral thesis was about the international use of English and his ongoing research interest continues in that vein.

Paul presented Employability and developing a skilled workforce during the poster sessions.
