Dr Carole Sweeney is Head of International Education Partnerships, Joint International Unit. A career diplomat since 1987,Carole joined the Joint International Unit on loan from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to lead the government’s work on international education partnerships. This includes the International Schools Programme, the Primer Minister’s Initiative on international education and a range of bilateral programmes in China, India, Africa and the Middle East. Carole has worked overseas in Egypt, Germany and Norway. In London, her recent jobs have included managing the department responsible for the FCO’s global public diplomacy work and the FCO’s relationship with the British Council.
