Accreditation UK Inspectors sought

We are recruiting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join the Accreditation UK inspectorate.

The primary task of an Accreditation UK inspector is to inspect and evaluate the ELT provision of eligible UK ELT providers who have applied for accreditation under the Accreditation UK scheme, managed by the British Council in partnership with English UK. Inspectors make recommendations on accreditation to the Accreditation Scheme Advisory Committee (ASAC) and Executive Board. At all times, inspectors support and represent the professional values and credibility of the Scheme.

We are currently seeking to appoint new inspectors with knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

management and delivery of ELT programmes in the state sector (FE or university)
management and delivery of ELT courses in the private sector.

All candidates should have:

a degree or other level 6 qualification and at least a diploma in ELT/TESOL
at least 10 years ELT experience including teaching, academic management and UK ELT
experience in a range of roles, including at least three of the following: teacher/trainer training, materials and publications development, professional development activities, ELT general management, people management, management of student services.

Preference may be given to applicants from regions where the inspectorate is currently under-represented.

Initially the contract will be for 10 inspection days per year.

This appointment will begin in April 2008 and continue through a probationary period ending 31 March 2009.

Please note that the recruitment and selection process will involve a paper-based shortlisting, followed by interviews before a panel.

Once selected, the appointment is subject to confirmation by the Accreditation UK Executive Board.
