What is it about? 

The Mexican Government is offering 10 scholarships for British citizens to create musical compositions in Mexico. 

This could be the next step of your musical career. Work with professionals, create amazing work, build professional relationships and experience Mexican culture and music in a truly unique way.

Who can apply?

Artists, graduate students or academics with a proven track record in their field of music. We only require your CV and your letter of acceptance (or invitation) from a Mexican institution in the first instance. You could work at conservatories, with orchestras or other professionals at higher education institutions for example.

Unfortunately applicants can only be accepted to create a work, rather than to take a course or attend workshops for example.

What support will I receive?

  • Your monthly allowance is equivalent to 5 times the minimum salary in Mexico City! It's currently the equivalent of $10,515.00 pesos (approximately US$681.901).
  • Your round-trip international airfare will be paid for. Note this will be strictly at the beginning and end of the scholarship.
  • Transportation to and from your host institution and accomodation will be arranged. If you wish to do any other activities during the stay, you will expect to cover these costs.
  • IMSS health insurance beginning in the third month of the grant.

What happens once I've submitted my application?

Applicants will be informed in writing by the corresponding Mexican Embassy or the Mexican host institution as to whether or not they have given the scholarship.
