Azeem Khan: Intern in Chengdu

Name: Azeem Khan

University: Imperial College London

Programme: Chengdu, 2 Month Internship, June 2015

Why did you apply?

I have always wanted to go to China, but also gain experience in working abroad. This kind of opportunity would not have been possible without the support of Generation UK-China

What did you do?

I worked in Customer Services Support at a games company which involved replying to customer queries, developing and managing our forum, and translating the game transcripts. I enjoyed my placement very much - the staff were very friendly and helpful. The work was very different to what I have done before so I have gained some new skills from it.

How did the programme benefit you?

Generation UK was able to cover expenses that I would not have been able to take care of myself. The programme has given me the opportunity to take part in some fantastic experiences in China, experiences that I will never forget.

Would you recommend the programme?

There are many intelligent, talented and hardworking students who cannot seize certain opportunities purely because of financial burdens. I feel that Generation UK can help these people realise their full potential and achieve their ambitions.
