Social enterprise in East Asia - video

The British Council operates a global social enterprise programme that leverages the UK’s expertise in social enterprise and investment in order to promote development and prosperity for people worldwide.

This film focuses on our work in East Asia, where we have rolled out our social enterprise programme in nine countries and trained over 2700 social entrepreneurs since 2009. We have also partnered with 95 private, public and third sector organisations to provide outstanding social entrepreneurs with access to funding and mentoring. Additionally, we conduct research, build social enterprise networks, convene policy dialogues and raise awareness through media campaigns and presentations by UK speakers.

The video explains why and how we support social entrepreneurs. It provides compelling examples of the impact social entrepreneurs deliver in their communities. And it shows how UK experience is helping to support a more inclusive, prosperous and sustainable future for us all.
