This report examines the broad potential of the creative industries to boost the economy, create jobs and celebrate cultural identity. Focusing on Pakistan’s three main cities (Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore), it moves beyond media stereotypes to uncover the opportunities and challenges faced by those working in the creative industries, as well as successes achieved in the face of considerable obstacles.

The UK benefits dramatically from its own creative industries, which are worth an estimated £71 billion and account for 1.7 million jobs. A clear strategy and policy framework has played an essential role in this success story: a similar approach is needed for the next stage of development in Pakistan.
