The British Council is seeking to assess the impact of its work in key sectors including Higher Education and Science. In evaluation terms, this means finding evidence of the British Council’s impact on sustainable key changes in national and international practices, policy, systems and long-term effects. For the British Council this means that it must also be able to demonstrate the benefit to the UK of its activity, to its key UK based funders and stakeholders.

Going Global is UK’s international Higher Education conference, designed and run by the British Council’s Higher Education team. Going Global occurs annually and is attended by around 1,000 ministers, policy makers and university leaders within the Higher Education sector each year, as well as representatives from accreditation and ranking bodies, the research and innovation sector, publishing, and the media.

This research study seeks to understand the impact of Going Global as a central point of the British Council’s work in Higher Education on the internationalisation of specific country Higher Education systems and policy including the UK, and its contribution and impact on the development of the global Higher Education sector.
