Our authors draw on the academic literature and recent evaluations to reflect on English language assessment as a cultural relations activity. 

They trace the organisation’s role since 1941 in both its commercial and charitable work in assessment. They argue that in both cases a cultural relations approach can be traced: by engaging with individual examination candidates, as well as with education ministries, our activities have built trust and respect.
