In 2014, Pakistan was among the top ten countries in terms of students studying at UK universities as international students (Higher Education and Standards Agency, 2014). This was in addition to British-Pakistani students at UK universities.

This cross-cultural study looks at Pakistani and British-Pakistani students studying at universities in Pakistan and the UK. It offers surprising insights into the motivations of both groups in choosing their subject areas and places of study.

The report offers recommendations to improve students’ chances of employability and life skills, while also helping universities and policymakers to better understand students of Pakistani origin or heritage.
