Next Generation is a research programme that gathers data to explore the needs, potential and aspirations of young people (18-30) globally. The overall aim of Next Generation is:
- Understanding youth attitudes and aspirations
- Amplifying youth voice
- Supporting better youth policy-making
The study seeks to analyse the conditions that support young people and allow them to reach their potential as fulfilled, productive and active citizens. Research is initiated in countries that are experiencing a period of significant change, with the purpose of ensuring that young people’s voices are heard and their interests properly represented in decisions that will have lasting implications for their lives. The research is always completed with a series of recommendations based on supporting policy change.
Germany is seen as an economic powerhouse as well as a political leader. Is Germany’s youth comfortable with this central role their country plays in the EU? Are they concerned that political instability, both within Germany and with the EU (with Brexit and the rise of a number of populist, nationalist parties in the bloc), threatens their status as a nation, and/or their own futures? How do they perceive their identity in terms of local, national and international connections, and values? What are their aspirations in education, employment and culture? And what are their concerns?
The British Council is looking to appoint a reputable service provider with the following qualities:
- Strong qualitative and quantitative research portfolio
