Supporting teacher development in Kenya

The British Council has been contracted to work with Kenya’s Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on the two-year Teacher Performance and Integrity in Kenya Project (TePIK). This project is funded by DFID through the Drivers of Accountability Programme, which is managed by DAI. The project aims to address elements of concern about teachers in Kenyan schools, particularly absenteeism, discipline and performance appraisal.

The project will involve teachers at both the primary and secondary levels, across six counties in Kenya. We aim to raise awareness and compliance with the TSC Code of Regulations and Ethics, enhance the capacity of the TSC headquarters and county offices to support school-based teacher performance, and trial and evaluate a new teacher appraisal system in the six counties.
