Through a new DFID-funded programme, the British Council is supporting civil society, the private sector and the government to improve accountability and transparency in Bangladesh.

Prokas (formerly known as the Transparency, Accountability and Right to Information Fund Programme) will provide grant funding to civil society and private sector coalitions working on issue-based projects that promote accountability and transparency and reduce corruption.

This innovative fund will support activities such as research, media investigations, outreach and advocacy. It will also provide capacity building assistance, such as training, for specific government initiatives aimed at reducing corruption.

Running initially until 2018, the programme will identify and start working with grant partners from late 2015.

The British Council delivers the project in association with GRM international and WISE Development.
