The British Council has been awarded a two-year extension worth £609,000 to continue delivering the Study USA programme.

Study USA is a highly successful and innovative programme that has been running for 24 years. The new extension from the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland will allow it to continue until October 2019.

Each year, Study USA gives 54 undergraduate students in Northern Ireland the opportunity to study business and management for one academic year at church affiliated universities and colleges in the USA.

Not only does Study USA provide an excellent opportunity to experience university life in the USA, it also offers significant financial incentives and is well regarded amongst graduate employers.

The purpose of the programme is to produce graduates with an international, business-orientated perspective who will be capable of eventually making a contribution in advancing the economy in Northern Ireland.

Alongside this, Study USA creates an opportunity for our young people in Northern Ireland to realise their ambitions in international business and develop the academic and applied skills of ambitious and talented students in business-orientated subjects.

Longer term, the ambition is that Study USA will support community building in Northern Ireland by widening the horizons of young people in a new cultural setting.
