The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) programme arranges international paid work placements for technical students in over 80 countries. The British Council manages the UK arm of the programme, working with employers, educational institutions and students to match supply and demand in the technical sector.

Our experienced programme team manages all aspects of the placements. We use stringent quality control measures to make sure we are providing employers with well qualified, motivated trainees. Throughout the placement we provide duty of care and welfare support to students, as well as additional support in visa applications.

We also work closely with universities, developing local student committees to raise awareness of the programme. At a higher level we engage with business leaders, promoting the benefits of employing foreign talent in their industries and organisations.

The programme has been operating since 1948 and continues to go from strength to strength.
