Transparent and open

We believe that our ‘mixed-economy’ model offers the best long-term benefits for the UK – but its success relies on stakeholder buy-in and the British Council as a public body being open and transparent at all times.

In the past we have promoted such transparency through measures such as annual publication of our Corporate Plan, publication of much of the market research we undertake, and sharing market intelligence with our UK partners through briefings and market events.  However, stakeholder feedback via the recent Triennial Review shows we have more to do in this respect.

Accordingly, during 2014/5 we will engage with the UK sector on how to establish a deeper level of openness and transparency in the way we manage market research, plan our work and share insight on market opportunities, with a view to global implementation during 2015/16.
