We are conducting a short piece of research for a new public relations and marketing client that is interested in bidding for public sector contracts. I would therefore be grateful if you would provide the following information submitted as a Freedom of Information Request.

Part 1

1.  Does your department currently use a private company to undertake any of the following services:

•Public Relations

•Social Media Communications

•External Stakeholder Communications

•Internal Stakeholder Communications.

2.  If yes, can you please confirm:

•When the current contract was last let

•When the current contract expires

•Whether the current contract has options to extend its length

•When you expect to retender the contract.

3.  If no (to question 1 above), are you considering letting such a contract in the future and if so, do you have an approximate timetable for engaging the market?

4.  Have you used a private company to help you with any other marketing or public information campaigns in the past 2 years?

5.  If so, could you please provide a brief overview of what those campaigns were about and approximately how long your contract with the company was for to support the campaign(s)?

Thank you for your request for information dated 14 November 2017 concerning public relations and marketing services. Your request has been handled under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000 and has been passed to me for reply.

For your ease of reference, I have restated your request below in bold and have provided our response beneath each point.

Part 1

PR: ING for the Venice Biennale 2018 – Let in September 2017

Social Media: Media FHE for Going Global – Let in May 2016

•When the current contract expires

ING (Venice Biennale 2018) – Expires December 2018

Media FHE (Going Global) – Expired May 2017

•Whether the current contract has options to extend its length

When you expect to retender the contract.

PR: ING for the Venice Biennale 2018 – Expect to retender from Summer 2018, focus will move to visual arts PR

Social Media:  Media FHE - no decision has yet been made as to whether this will be up for a retender in 2018

3. If no (to question 1 above), are you considering letting such a contract in the future and if so, do you have an approximate timetable for engaging the market?

Part 2

4. Have you used a private company to help you with any other marketing or public information campaigns in the past 2 years? 

Yes

Kindred: schools PR campaign for Connecting Classrooms; ran September 2015 - September 2017

Sutton: PR campaign for Venice Biennale 2017; ended Nov 2017, lasted 14 months

Pop PR: PR and social media for Fashion DNA; ran Jan 2017 - Feb 2017

Pelham PR: Venice Biennale 2017 campaign; ended Mar 2017
