If you are interviewed and selected we will make you a conditional offer. A conditional offer means that we would like to offer you a contract to work with us on the condition that the following requirements are met:
We always need to obtain three satisfactory references, including that of your current or most recent employer. We reserve the right to ask for more referees if deemed necessary.
We need to ensure that everyone is medically fit before they travel and are eligible to join our medical insurance scheme. This also gives you an opportunity meet with a medical professional to discuss any necessary inoculations for yourself and for accompanying members of your family before you start the role.
Some countries that we work in require compulsory HIV antibody and/or pregnancy testing, which must be negative, before certain types of visa and working or residence permits are issued. We do not support these policies but we are obliged to comply with a foreign government's immigration policy.
Criminal records check
The majority of our teaching roles involve working with children. We therefore require applicants for these roles to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) (formerly Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)) in the UK. If you have been working outside of the UK prior to taking up post or are not a UK national you will need to obtain an equivalent check from the country you have been working in/are from. We will help you obtain these checks where possible.
In the event of a positive disclosure, an applicant's suitability to work with children will be judged on a case by case basis by taking into account the seriousness and nature of the offence/s, nature of appointment, age of offence/s and frequency of the offence/s. The fact that a person has a criminal record does not automatically make him or her unsuitable to work with children. Some countries that we work in will not issue a visa / working or residence permits to applicants with certain types of convictions or cautions.
We need to see your original academic and professional qualifications and your passport before you start the job.
