International school exams results

We know that this is an uncertain time for students who were unable to sit international UK exams in June though the British Council due to Covid-19, and for those due to sit exams in October-November.

October-November 2020 school exam series

Where it is safe to do so, we plan to administer international school exams in October-November 2020.

Your health is our priority, and we are closely monitoring the health and safety situation and government advice in your location.

Should the situation in your country change and affect plans for exams, we will communicate with you and liaise with exam partners on the next steps.

June 2020 school exams series

Schools and private candidates initially received their result based on an assessed grade standardisation model used by awarding bodies.

This model has been revised. We have had confirmation from awarding bodies that students will receive grades based on predicted grades submitted by the school or examination centre.

All awarding bodies have confirmed that no student will receive a grade lower than their predicted grade.

June 2020 private candidates sitting Cambridge A Levels with the British Council

Cambridge International have confirmed that this also includes private candidates entered by the British Council who were awarded an A Level grade on 11 August.

Your A Level grade will also be no lower than the AS Level result received in 2019 where it was submitted as the predicted grade.

Where an A Level grade issued last week was higher than the predicted grade, the higher grade will stand.

We will continue to support schools and students by working with the awarding bodies to understand what these changes mean for you.

You may notice a delay in our responses to you. This has been due to a high volume of communication, and we thank you for your patience.

Our work with awarding bodies and you

We work with three UK awarding bodies – Cambridge International, Pearson and Oxford International AQA – to offer schools exams internationally.

Although we administer exams in partnership with awarding bodies, we are not involved in their grading processes.

We’ve been listening to your concerns and acknowledge the profound effect these decisions have on your lives.

We will continue to work closely with schools and awarding bodies and communicate feedback regularly to ensure students are heard.
