Since it was founded in 1925, around two million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD funding, making it the world’s largest funding organisation of its kind. The DAAD is also a driving force behind the internationalisation efforts of German universities, supports developing countries with building their higher education systems, and promotes study of the German language and German Studies abroad. Our Artists-in-Berlin Program is one of the most prestigious scholarship programmes for artists in the world.
Helwan University (HU) was founded in 1975. Since then it is considered to be a unique model among Egyptian Universities as it encompasses several unique faculties like Fine Arts, Applied Arts, Art Education, Music Education and Physical Education. The university has more than 160000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. It comprises 23 faculties as well as 50 research centers and productive units which links the university with the need of the Egyptian society.
HEMAS - Helicopter Electro-Mechanical Actuation System
The HEMAS (CleanSky) is a highly innovative proof of concept demonstrator developed by Liebherr, Airbus (Munich) and the University of Nottingham to demonstrate the benefits of electrification technologies by replacing the hydraulic system with a fully controllable and fault tolerant electro-mechanical actuation system for helicopter swashplate control.
This project led to further collaborations through Actuation 2015 with TU Hamburg, DLR (German Aerospace Centre) and other partners to develop successfully commercialised innovative health monitoring techniques and modelling tools.
