Registration for Going Global opens on Wednesday 25 January 2017. Early bird rates are available until Friday 24 March 2017, after which the standard rate is available until Monday 8 May 2017.

The following information includes the conference pass types and eligibility criteria for discounted passes.

Conference fees

The conference fee is an all-inclusive cost and includes:

  • Complimentary invitation to the welcome reception on the evening of Monday 22 May 2017
  • Complimentary copy of the Going Global 2016 publication, “Going Global: Building nations, connecting cultures”
  • Access to all plenary sessions
  • Access to all parallel sessions throughout the conference
  • Access to the exhibition
  • Lunch and refreshments throughout the conference
  • Pre-event agenda builder and meeting planner
  • Going Global networking app (iPhone and Android compatible)
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the conference venue
  • Conference bag
  • Video and audio on-demand post conference

Definition of conference passes

Standard pass

  • Those attending the full conference who do not qualify for a discounted rate

Discounted pass

  • Automatically applies to residents of countries not listed on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's member country list during registration
  • Those who are members of Going Global reciprocal partner organisations
  • Non-UK tertiary education institutions that have a partnership with a UK tertiary education institution
  • Sponsors
  • Unsuccessful proposals - those whose proposals were not accepted for Going Global 2017
  • Exhibitors - see exhibition package for details
  • Students - students are expected to show valid student ID when they collect their conference pass at the venue.

Contributor pass

  • Speakers
  • Session chairs
  • Poster presenters

Complimentary pass

  • Invited speaker – those who have received a formal invitation from the British Council International Steering Committee
  • Sponsor – those from sponsoring organisations who are entitled to a complimentary pass
  • Press – a valid press ID card is required and should be presented upon collection of their conference pass
  • Volunteer – staff who are working for the conference team during the conference
  • Reciprocal partner – one member from each Going Global reciprocal partner organisation
  • Steering Committee – those who sit on the Steering Committee for Going Global 2017

The Going Global team will send details of the appropriate discount code in their communications.

Registration terms and conditions

a. 1. Payment and pricing:

a. Full payment must be received before the conference commences. The British Council reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone who has not paid prior to the conference.

b. Invoice payments (up until 21 April 2017):

i.   Please note an administration fee of £50 will be added to all invoice payments.

ii.  If your institution requires you to pay via an invoice, you must register before 21 April 2017. No invoices will be issued after 21 April 2017. Registrations completed after 21 April 2017 must be paid in full at the time of registration through the secure online credit card system.

iii. If you provide a purchase order number at the time of registration we will ensure this is included on the invoice. If you do not provide a purchase order number at the time of registration, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to include this on the invoice.

iv. Payments may only be made in GBP by bank transfer.

c. Credit card payments: 

i.  No tax receipt will be issued for credit card payments – you will receive an email transaction confirmation only.

ii. Unfortunately, due to restrictions from RBS WorldPay we are unable to accept credit card payments from the following countries – Algeria, Argentina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Lithuania, Macedonia , Nigeria, Philippines, Romania, Russian Federation and Ukraine. Please contact the Going Global team for alternative payment options.

d. Payments from overseas may only be made in GBP, by international bank transfer (see below regarding bank charges) or by credit card.

e. The British Council is not liable for bank charges or any other costs incurred by participants in attending the event. Bank charges must be paid by the delegate.

f. Conference fees do not incur VAT and are quoted in GBP.

g. The Going Global team will take measures to ensure that the appropriate passes are purchased by delegates. We reserve the right to request relevant paperwork to ensure passes have been purchased under the appropriate circumstances. In the instance that an incorrect pass type has been purchased, we reserve the right to cancel the registration and request that the appropriate pass is purchased.

2. Cancellations and substitutes:

a. Cancellations must be confirmed in writing by 17.00 GMT, Monday 8 May 2017 and payments will be refunded minus an administration charge of GBP£50. If not already paid, the balance will remain payable (less £50).

b. We regret that no refund can be made after Monday 8 May 2017. If not already paid, the conference fees will remain payable in full.

c. Non-attendance at the conference is not considered a cancellation. No refund will be paid for those who do not attend the conference. Conference fees will remain payable in full for participants who do not cancel their registration by Monday 8 May 2017.

d. Substitution of participants are welcome, free of charge, if we are informed in writing at least five working days prior to the event.
