Explore the central role that world class universities play in powering great global cities and driving the knowledge economy

Drawing on exclusive new insights from the data behind the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and beyond, Phil Baty, Editor of the THE World University Rankings and M’hamed Aisati, Director of Content and Analytics at Elsevier, will identify the world’s existing and emerging new knowledge hubs, and explore the central role that world class universities play in powering great global cities and driving the knowledge economy.

The session will examine the global distribution of world class universities, exploring the rising stars of the global rankings and assess their prospects in relation to their local socio-economic and political context, and global talent flows. The session will also provide insights into the methodology of the THE World University Rankings, and will include an open discussion of new developments in rankings, including the development of new teaching metrics, and measures of a university’s economic impact.
