This session will present the results of British Council’s scoping study on opportunities and collaborative models for UK-EA university partnerships to deepen engagement with industry and business enterprise. Speakers from selected UK and EA Ministries of Higher Education will be asked to share their views on relevancy and viability of these international models for collaboration given unique HE context and priorities. There is also opportunity for UK and EA countries to share their visions of future university-industry partnership models readily responsive to the accelerating need for new skills brought by Fourth Industrial Revolution and beyond.

Session Objectives:

This session is aimed at policymakers, Ministries and universities in East Asia and UK. Specifically, the session aims to:

1. Identify workable models of international collaboration between EA and UK universities to deepen collaboration with industry

2. Identify global challenges or common research and development themes where EA and UK universities can work together with industry

3. Identify platforms (including policies, structures, and systems) to create effective connections between governments, universities and industry or business enterprises.

4. Explore if there is value to intra-regional and inter-regional models for government-university-industry and university-university-industry partnerships.
