Hosted by the University of Miami this session will provide delegates the chance to tour the Miller School of Medicine, the University of Miami's state of the art medical campus. Following the tour a panel discussion will be held discussing innovation in global health and research and the role that international partnerships can play.

Dr Lee D Kaplan

Chief, Department of Orthopeadics and Biomedical Engineering , University of Miami, USA

Lee D Kaplan, a renowned specialist in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery, is Chief of UHealth Sports Medicine, a division of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The division is the official sports medicine provider for the Miami Hurricanes.

Dr Eduardo de Marchena

Dean for International Medicine, University of Miami, USA

Dr Eduardo de Marchena is an internationally recognised cardiologist and a professor of medicine and surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He was named Associate Dean for International Medicine Institute in March 2008 and and is currently the Chairman of the University of Miami Medical Group.

Dr Carl Schulman

Director, William Lehman Injury Research Center, DeWitt Daughtry Family Department of Surgery, USA

Dr Schulman is an academic surgeon with a research focus on Injury Prevention. He holds a Master’s of Science degree in Public Health and performs population based research in various areas of injury prevention. Dr Schulman is an active Trauma and Burn surgeon at University of Miami’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Dr Antonio Marttos

Assistant Professor of Surgery, Director of Telemedicine, William Lehman Injury Research Center, USA

Dr Marttos is Assistant Professor of Surgery/Director of Trauma Telemedicine, Ryder Trauma Center/William Lehman Injury Research Center. He completed his medical and surgical residency in Brazil.  In 2004, he joined Jackson Memorial Hospital for Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Fellowship, after which he joined University of Miami’s faculty.

Dr H Thomas Temple

Vice-Chairman, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Miami, USA

H Thomas Temple is Vice Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief of Orthopaedics at University of Miami Hospital; Medical Director and Chief Operating Officer of University of Miami’s Tissue Bank and holds the title of Professor of Orthopaedics and Pathology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
