Going Global is a conference for leaders in international education to debate the future of further and higher education.

Since its inception in 2004, the British Council’s flagship Going Global conference has provided a strategic forum for leaders in international education to connect, share knowledge and build a global network of senior leaders and policy influencers to shape the future of further and higher education. We have now adapted the Going Global model to accommodate a more international approach to our flagship conference by establishing regional events that will contribute, inform content and enable us to continue conversations and activity between biennial global conference hosted in the UK (the first of which will take place in 2023).

As the first regional edition, Going Global Asia Pacific 2022 will explore International Education in the UK and Asia Pacific region: How to pursue equity in an inequitable world.

The conference will be held in Singapore. Networking opportunities will be built into the agenda for in-person attendees. There will also be organised visits and face-to-face meetings with local stakeholders in the tertiary education sector and industry. Some conference elements will be available online.

Together, we will:

  • Discuss how we move toward an equitable and climate conscious approach to international mobility, for students, academics and researchers.
  • Share thought leadership, research insights, and international partnerships models, that promote equity, creativity and innovation.
  • Consider how universities and colleges can best balance their responsibilities in local communities while embracing internationalisation.
