Going Global is a conference for leaders in international education to debate the future of further and higher education.
Since its inception in 2004, the British Council’s flagship Going Global conference has provided a strategic forum for leaders in international education to connect, share knowledge and build a global network of senior leaders and policy influencers to shape the future of further and higher education.
As part of our new conference model the Going Global education conference will take place biennially in the UK. This will be an international, face-to- face conference. The next international conference will take place in the UK towards the end of 2023 (date to be announced).
In the intervening years, we will host regional-led events with shared outcomes, joined by global themes ensuring a continued conversation. These dialogues will lead to partnership opportunities aimed at developing global learning about higher education and TVET systems.
The first of these regional events is Going Global Asia Pacific 2022, exploring International Education in the UK and Asia Pacific region: How to pursue equity in an inequitable world.
The conference will be held in Singapore. Networking opportunities will be built into the agenda for in-person attendees. There will also be organised visits and face-to-face meetings with local stakeholders in the tertiary education sector and industry. Some conference elements will be available online.
Together, we will:
- Discuss how we move toward an equitable and climate conscious approach to international mobility, for students, academics and researchers.
- Share thought leadership, research insights, and international partnerships models, that promote equity, creativity and innovation.
- Consider how universities and colleges can best balance their responsibilities in local communities while embracing internationalisation.
