We're delighted to introduce the "Action Research Foundation Course", a professional development opportunity exclusively for Partner Schools teachers and school leaders. 

Course aims and objectives

  • This course aims to deepen understanding and skills in action research, equipping you to take innovative steps in your school. 
  • You will learn about action research and start your own action research projects. 
  • You will discover how to use generative AI to facilitate the research process. 
  • Once you have submitted your final action research project, you will be able to download a certificate of completion. At the end of the project, you will also have the unique opportunity to showcase your final project to an extended audience within our network of Partner Schools.
  • You will also benefit from expert-led Zoom sessions, comprehensive resources, and the support of a community discussion forum.

Enrolment Details

Enrolment is open from early October until 20 November 2023. After this date, applications will be closed for further enrolment. To participate, you need to enrol.

Details of the Zoom Sessions – hosted on the Online Support for Schools:

  • Session 1 (Tuesday, 21 November 2023 at 13.30 UK): Choosing an action research topic and formulating research questions: 
    Discover how to choose a topic in line with your interests and school needs, and write impactful research questions for your study.
  • Session 2 (Tuesday, 19 December 2023 at 13.30 UK): Designing data collection tools for your action research:
    Understand the various tools and techniques available for collecting reliable and valid data.  
  • Session 3 (Tuesday, 16 January 2024 at 13.30 UK): Data collection for your action research:
    Engage in hands-on experiences of data collection, while ensuring the importance of ethical considerations. 
  • Session 4 (Tuesday, 27 February 2024 at 13.30 UK): Analysing data and formulating an action plan:
    Analyse the data you've gathered, identifying patterns and insights. Using this analysis, draft an action plan that can be implemented in your school setting.

Final Submission (Wednesday, 26 March 2024)

Submit your research for review. Successful submissions will be recognised with a certificate of completion.

Engage in stimulating discussions, ask questions, and collaborate with fellow educators on your action research journey.

The course includes four webinars:

  • Session 1 (21 November 2023): Choosing a topic and formulating research questions.
  • Session 2 (19 December 2023): Designing tools for data collection.
  • Session 3 (16 January 2024): Data collection and ethical considerations.
  • Session 4 (27 Februray 2024): Analysing data and drafting an action plan.

Is there a deadline for the final research submission?

Yes, the final research should be submitted by Wednesday, 20 March 2024.

What will I receive upon successful completion of the course?

If you successfully complete and submit your action research, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, which will be awarded after your final research is reviewed by the course tutor.
