Higher education partnerships focus on Transnational Education (TNE) partnerships which build local capacity and support local and UK policy priorities.
Our aim is to support these partnerships in a growing number of countries by building system to system collaboration and working with policy makers to support and encourage internationalisation and create opportunities for UK sector engagement.
The British Council supports partnerships that deliver:
- capacity building in-country
- collaborations which allow UK universities to contribute to global goals, enhance their international engagement and support the national priorities in the regions they operate in
- academic, cultural, economic and social benefits to both partners
Benefit to UK institutions
Higher education partnerships open up wider opportunities for students to gain international qualifications and acquire new skills and perspectives, while distance and time constraints are no longer barriers. They will also open up opportunities for two way mobility of staff and students, and the potential for joint research.
