This commission is for initial scoping of potential ways to build recognition of intercultural and international experience through a form of accreditation or quality mark.

The British Council is developing new strategies to encourage and develop international experience for young people. It is our belief that opportunities for young people to develop intercultural competence through engagement with people of other countries and cultures is of benefit to individuals and to the wider UK economy.

We aim to draw on our own experience of developing and delivering high-quality international education programmes, as well as working with partners and stakeholders to reach new audiences of young people, particularly those that haven’t previously had access to international opportunities.

We want to learn more about existing accreditation and quality mark to explore how to incentivise young people to pursue international opportunities, and build recognition amongst employers of their value.
