Call for UK universities to participate in a conference about graduate employability and host a delegation of up to ten education professionals from Azerbaijan in the UK in January 2020.

Phase 1: Graduate Employability Conference

The Graduate Employability Conference will be held on Thursday 24 October 2019 in Baku, Azerbaijan. 

The aim of the conference is to support higher education institutions in Azerbaijan to increase the employability level of their graduates in order to make them locally as well as globally competitive by benefiting UK expertise in this area. 

UK universities will be invited to share their best practices in employability, co-operation with industry to improve graduates’ prospects. 

The event will open learning and strategic partnership opportunities for Azerbaijan universities in order to develop graduate employability skills.

The conference will be attended by the representatives of Ministry of Education, HE institutions in Azerbaijan and business enterprises who are interested in building partnership with local universities in this regard.   

Phase 2: Study Tour in the UK

Study tour participants: up to ten education professionals from different Azerbaijan universities to benefit from UK expertise in the education/ graduate employability sector. The tour will take place Tuesday 14 to Friday 17 January 2020.

The training programme will be developed by the selected UK institution as a follow up to Phase 1 Conference held in October 2019.

The training provider will be expected to provide participants with their own materials, as necessary.


All expenses including travel, accommodation, food and living will be covered by British Council Azerbaijan.

How to apply

Section 1 – Proposal from UK Universities for participation in the Graduate Employability Conference 

This section should include a background briefing on the university applying for the conference participation as well as brief summary of experience in employability of graduates and partnerships with business enterprises. 

What kinds of methods/ways of cooperation are applied and partnership samples (name of partner institution, duration and statistical outcome as a result of cooperation if available). 

Section 2 – Budget for the Study Tour in the UK – January 2020

This section should include detailed breakdown of all cost items and the overall price per person. 

The hosting UK institution will be in charge of the following services to be provided: accommodation and meals, resources and facilities, participant support, a cultural programme, other services (airport collection, welcome lunch on the first day and farewell lunch on the final day, bus passes).

In addition, the proposal should include information about trainers and their CVs.

The evaluation of proposals will be carried out using the following criteria:

  • 35% for the financial proposal
  • 35% for the programme design
  • 20% for the trainer experience
  • 10% for the non-academic components of the programme

Proposal should be submitted to (Nargiz Huseynova, English and Education Manager, British Council Azerbaijan) no later than Friday 30 August 2019.
