Going Global conference - 22-24 May 2017, Queen Elizabeth II Centre in London, UK

Going Global is an annual conference offering an open forum for global leaders of tertiary education to discuss issues facing the international education community.

Since its inception in 2004, Going Global has grown from a bi-annual event in the UK to an annual event alternating between the UK and a major international city. More than 1,200 education leaders, government ministers and chief executives from across 75 countries attend this event annually. 

Partnership opportunity

Going Global is offering an opportunity for an institution to provide a team of event management students to support the delivery of its annual conference.

We ask that the local institution is able to provide 20 students who would benefit from practical, hands on experience in a professional environment to support the conference management team on site in London.

We have piloted this opportunity with Coventry University in previous years, and both institutions will have students on site.  

Institution requirements

Ideally, students will be in their second or third year of study, and have experience of customer facing events. 

Students should be familiar with the principles of conference management, and have a desire to use these in a practical setting. 

It is preferable that the students are familiar with Events Force online registration management system.

In order to be part of this unique and exciting partnership, we ask that:

•  the institution advertises this volunteering opportunity among event management students

•  the institution runs a  selection process to ensure a cohesive team of participants

•  the institution arranges and covers the cost of the students accommodation, subsistence, travel and visa (if required) for the dates discussed with the Going Global team

•  the institution nominates one point of contact who will liaise with the Going Global operations manager

In return for this the partner institution will be thanked at the opening and closing plenary of the conference. Furthermore, their logo, short description and website will feature on the conference website, app and programme and they will also be eligible for an exhibition stand at the event. This partnership offers students an opportunity to gain practical experience at a large global conference in various roles. 

Student requirements

The students will experience various roles across conference management:  

• delegate welcome and registration

• delegate flow coordination

• catering supervision

• app assistance

• video crew support

• exhibition coordination

• conference sessions assistance and many others.
