Background information

Ukraine is currently undergoing major transformation of its education system. The new law 'On Higher Education' adopted in July 2014 introduces changes to the system of higher education, to the way quality is assured, and to the manner in which universities are managed. Universities have now been granted wide-ranging autonomy and this presents Ukrainian institutions with significant management challenges. The main focus of British Council work in Education is to assist the new government in Ukraine to modernise its approaches in higher education through UK expertise.

The Third International conference European Integration of Higher Education in the Context of Bologna Process is an annual international conference organised by the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The audience includes up to 130 government policy-makers and representatives of higher education organisations in Ukraine.

The main themes of this year conference are:

  • future vision of higher education in Ukraine
  • implementation of the new law on Higher Education in Ukraine
  • autonomy and responsibility of universities
  • quality assurance of higher education
