About

This research consultancy builds on a pilot study of qualitative research recently conducted with displaced Syrian youth in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, considering their perceptions of tertiary education.

This second phase seeks to extend the research and analysis to Turkey and Iraq for the first time to produce data from a robust qualitative sample, and to deepen the analysis in all countries, namely Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq.  The aim is to present a detailed picture of the unique context and role for higher education within the Syrian refugee crisis, and the challenges facing national governments and higher education institutions, and international organisations in provision of quality higher education in these countries, at the present time and for the future.

This research is supported by UNHCR and the British Council. Support for the successful researcher or research team will be available in all countries through British Council’s network of offices, and UNHCR who are leading the response to the refugee crisis.
