Call for papers

Across the world, higher education institutions are increasingly offering all or part of their curriculum in English. This rise in "English as a lingua franca" raises many questions for teachers, students, and educational planners. Pressure to move to English-medium instruction comes from below and above and can lead to unreasonable expectations and/or burdens on an institution’s infrastructure and ultimately its' learning outcomes.
In this edition of Higher Learning Research Communications, we invite academics and higher education professionals to contribute original research on English-Medium Instruction (EMI) and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). All papers relevant to higher education research, policy, and practice in EMI and CLIL will be considered, such as reports, case studies, and survey research and data analyses. Topics may include, among others:
- Teacher training
- Technology solutions for EMI and CLIL
- Institutional language policy
- Program design (vertical and horizontal)
- Curriculum and materials development
- Classroom action research
