Deadline: 15 May 2014
About this opportunity:
The Pakistan Higher Education Commission (HEC) medium-term development plan explicitly puts ideals of knowledge economy at the centre of higher education development for this 5 year period: to unlock and exchange the knowledge and expertise held by the universities for the benefit of communities and economies.
The British Council and HEC have been working together to support the development of knowledge exchange activities and strategic thinking in higher education institutions (HEIs). This has been realised in knowledge exchange training for knowledge exchange leads, academics, vice-chancellors; a grant programme supporting universities to develop institutional knowledge exchange strategies (DISKE) in conjunction with their UK HEI partners’ knowledge exchange teams; extension of existing international research collaborations with knowledge exchange activities (SPEKE) and the initiation of talks to create sector specific university-industry groups that will guide strategy and activity.
The latest initiative is a round of knowledge economy partnerships which will provide a grant of up to £15,000 to link academia with non-university partners with the objective of facilitating joint research between UK and Pakistani Universities.
Applicants must be based within a HEI in Pakistan or in the UK and have backing by their head of institution. Technical and vocational institutions and colleges based in Pakistan and UK are eligible to apply.
