The British Council and the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Going Global 2015 conference in London, UK.
This signature represents a major step towards achieving the two countries’ educational goals in 2015, which is UK-Mexico Year.
“For 70 years the British Council has worked in Mexico, creating educational opportunities for individuals and institutions with diverse backgrounds, we are pleased to formalize our relationship with the signing of this MOU”, said Jaime Valls Esposito, Director of the Executive Secretariat of ANUIES.
Meanwhile, Lena Milosevic, Director General of the British Council Mexico said that "for the British Council the signing of this MOU with ANUIES represents a great opportunity to strengthen our commitment and support the relationship between the countries."
The memorandum aims to strengthen the relationship with projects that have a wider impact in both countries, such as promoting:
•The relationship between institutions of both countries.
•The professional development of teachers.
•The internationalization of higher education.
•Scholarships and study opportunities in both countries.
•Joint work on academic, scientific and cultural activities in areas of common interest.
The first joint initiative under the MOU was the visit of a group Mexican vice-chancellors and education authorities to the UK to exchange ideas with their UK counterparts and to discuss working together within the framework of UK-Mexico 2015.
