University colleagues discussing innovation
IHE China UK Forum Innovation Entrepreneurship
Tuesday 11 March 2014 - 00:00 to Wednesday 12 March 2014 - 00:00
Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, China

In the global education scene, as the key drivers of the social and economic development, entrepreneurship and innovation in higher education are becoming hot topics which are constantly being discussed and debated by higher education practitioners, and also highly encouraged by governments. It has been a tradition for some UK higher education institutions (HEIs) to focus on entrepreneurship and innovation during the course of their development. They have achieved great performance and won reputation across the globe. In China, with its fast economic development and ongoing education reform, some HEIs have had experience in applying entrepreneurship in their governance and operation. They are keen to learn the best practice on how to build up models of entrepreneurship and embed innovation into their organisation to boost their development. The HEIs from both countries show strong interest in establishing links and collaborations with each other through information sharing and network building.

Based on the above needs, British Council China, in partnership with Chinese Entrepreneurship Education Steering Committee, will co-organise the UK-China Higher Education Forum on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as part of a two-year programme, which will bring together higher education institutions and practitioners from both countries to conduct dialogues and debates on the development of entrepreneurial types of HEIs and to nurture innovative talents in global settings.
