The Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) is a stakeholder organisation that provides a platform for the promotion and facilitation of best practice in research and innovation management in Southern Africa. Its primary purpose is to strengthen the research and innovation system to ensure the social and economic development of the region. 

The 12th annual SARIMA conference will take place over 8-10th July 2014 including 2-days of training workshops from 6-7th July, in Gaborone, Botswana. It will bring together international leaders of higher education and the non-profit and for-profit research communities. The conference theme for 2014 is 'Striving Towards Global Research and Innovation Excellence in Southern Africa'. As part of the conference, the inaugural Research and Innovation Leadership Institute (SARIMA-LI) will be held on July 6th and will provide learning and sharing opportunities on issues of critical importance to Southern African and international leaders of research and innovation.

Nobantu Kalake, Country Director for the British Council in Botswana, will be giving the welcome remarks at this year’s conference.
