Local universities in transition: international experiences and local practice
Recently the Chinese Ministry of Education has issued a policy that around 600 undergraduate colleges will be converted into applied-technology higher education institutions in order to reform education structure and tackle unemployment.
In response to the new policy, the National Academy of Education Administration and the British Council have partnered to oganise a conference to debate the opportunities and challenges for local universities that have been categorised as applied-technology universities.
This conference will address how universities can engage with economic and social development and government policy to encourage engagement, with related case studies drawing on international experience and best practice.
Participants include members of the National Academy of Education Administration, Chinese university leaders from middle and western areas of China, UK higher education experts and Finnish education professionals.
