Brazilian students in classroom
Saturday 25 April 2015 - 00:00 to Wednesday 29 April 2015 - 00:00

‘Creating sustainable partnerships through equitable internationalisation' is the theme of the FAUBAI 2015 Conference in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, in the heart of the Brazilian Pantanal.

The conference will have hundreds of international participants and will feature sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities.

We will be co-ordinating a session entitled ‘English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI): a Growing Global Phenomenon’, to present some academic research which is being conducted by the Oxford University Department of Education. The study, which covers 55 countries, attempts to map the size and shape of EMI in the world today and to demonstrate how English is increasingly being used to teach other academic subjects at both university and secondary school levels. This talk gives a bird's eye view of EMI and raises some of the issues involved when teaching an academic subject though English.

Please note, this is a non-British Council event.

This event aims to discuss creative pathways in order to develop sustainable partnerships, policies and programmes, to achieve equitable internationalisation.

Who should attend
