The annual call for Erasmus+ funding for higher education institutions is currently underway.

Each year the programme enables thousands of UK students to study at partner universities or carry out an international traineeship. Thousands more staff from higher education institutions take part in teaching or training opportunities overseas through the programme.

According to the Erasmus Impact Survey, 90% of Higher Education students who had been mobile reported an improvement of their soft skills. They also found that students who study or train abroad are half as likely to face long-term unemployment.

For staff, more than 70% of them agreed that the most important aspect of their mobility was the increase in their knowledge of good practice and skills to the benefit of their home HEI.  81% of academic staff observed benefits to the quality of teaching and on multi-disciplinary and cross-organisational cooperation in teaching.

In addition to mobility funding, the Erasmus+ programme also offers institutions funding to support the development of strategic partnerships with institutions overseas. The partnerships can allow institutions to exchange ideas, skills and knowledge, and develop innovative new practices and improve education provision.

Funding deadlines are fast approaching.

Apply for mobility funding by the extended deadline of 11 February 2020 (11am, UK time).

Apply for strategic partnership funding by 24 March 2020 (11am, UK time).

Update (19 March 2020): As a result of difficulties experienced by applicants due to the coronavirus outbreak the deadline for submission of Key Action 2 applications (strategic partnership funding) has been extended until 23 April 2020 at 11am UK time (12pm Brussels time).
