Emer Maguire (Host: Semi-Final Heat 1)

Emer’s science communication journey has seen her write and present BBC Radio shows and independent podcasts. Emer is the FameLab UK 2015 winner, and went on to win International Science Stars in Kazakhstan in 2017. Emer is a four-time TEDx speaker, and host of high-profile technology conferences such as Women in Tech and Thinking Digital. As a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, Emer also has a keen interest in communication (particularly when it comes to science!).

Kareem Helmee (Host: Semi-Final Heat 2)

Kareem is a graduate of Digital Media Engineering and Technology from the German University in Cairo. He worked in a graphics studio based in Cairo before shifting his career in 2018 to enter the learning and development field. Kareem is now working as a trainer with Aspire. He has worked in events with British Council, British Embassy in Cairo, RiseUp Summit 2020, She Can - Entrepreunelle, Pearson Egypt, Cambridge Egypt, Shell Egypt, Injaz Misr, FameLab Egypt, and TEDxGUC.

Greg Foot (Host: International Final)

Greg is a science presenter and producer on TV and radio, a popular YouTuber, and an in-demand events host and content creator. He is also an experienced producer, running his own digital-first production studio that helps brands, research groups and charities tell their science stories. Greg also runs SciComm Training and one-on-one coaching. Greg has a first-class degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and is a Wellcome Trust Public Engagement Fellow.


Khayriyyah (Kye) Mohd Hanafiah (Judge: Semi-Final Heat 1)

Kye studies diagnostic markers and therapeutics for infectious disease at Burnet Institute in Melbourne and Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang. She was awarded the Australian Endeavour Research Fellowship in 2017, became the first female Asian Champion of FameLab International in 2018, and received the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia “Youth Award” in 2019. She regularly delivers public talks and communication training for students and researchers in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. 

Claire McNulty (Judge: Semi-Final Heat 1)

Claire is currently the Regional Lead for the National Geographic Society in Europe, and before this, she was the Global Director of Science for the British Council. She has a PhD in heart development and worked as a postdoc in the Netherlands on early brain development. She has a passion for sustainable development, international collaboration, and science engagement and therefore is a massive fan of FameLab International!

Madeline Howard (Judge: Semi-Final Heat 1)

Madeline Howard works on the human side of cyber security as the Global Information Security Co-ordinator at Sage. She is passionate about empowering individuals to see security as an enabler for positive change. In her spare time, she is the Chair and Director of Cyber Cheltenham, one of the UK’s largest Cyber Cluster and is passionate about supporting activities that support the development of cyber-skills within the cyber-tech ecosystem. 

Dhara Patel (Judge: Semi-Final Heat 2)

Dhara Patel is an astronomer/science communicator at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Beginning her career as a secondary school science teacher after completing her Masters in Physics, she has since spent the last five and a half years sharing her passion for science and astronomy from the Observatory, as well as at national science festivals and even through publications, press and media.

Andrew Steele (Judge: Semi-Final Heat 2)

Dr Andrew Steele is a scientist and author of Ageless: The new science of getting older without getting old. After a PhD in physics from the University of Oxford, Andrew decided that ageing was the single most important scientific challenge of our time, and switched fields to computational biology. After five years using machine learning to investigate DNA and NHS medical records, he is now a full-time writer, presenter and campaigner.

Shini Somara (Judge: Semi-Final Heat 2)

Dr. Shini Somara is a Mechanical Engineer and Fluid Dynamicist turned TV presenter, children's book author, podcaster, TEDx speaker and mentor to MEng/PhDs at Imperial College in London.  Shini is passionate about making science and technology accessible to all. 

Shini's past work can be seen on the BBC, PBS Digital, Sky, Discovery and The Science Channel and TechKnow on Al Jazeera America from Los Angeles. She returned to London to produce/report on Razor, CGTN Europe. 

Rogério Martins (Judge: International Final)

Rogério Martins is the host and author of the long-running TV show, Isto é Matemática (This is Mathematics), that’s featured on the main Portuguese news channel. He also developed and presented dozens of talks and shows on popular science, to schools, teachers events, and the general public.
